Welcome to Faux Slimentology, which are the main focus of my blog posts; they're mostly Slime Rancher Theories and sometimes just... dumb stuff. I also specifically chose Slimentology just in case someone, somehow would mistake this for the in-game term "Slimeology." So without further ado:
Faux Slimentology #1: Plorts, and Are They Poop?[]

The short answer is: no. At least not the conventional way we see poop. To recap all elementary/primary school sciences, poop is a waste by-product of the body. Food goes in and once your body manages to get out all the nutrients and can store away, it goes through your digestion tract and is well, escorted out of your body.
The interesting thing about plorts is that they seem to contain some energy, genetic, or nutritional value upon digestion, which... scale for scale would not be the case with human by-product should someone try to replicate. It should also be noted that since Slimes are similar enough in physiology to cross-mutate, it is Highly Likely that if it was waste it couldn't provide significant nutrients to the ingestor (as opposed to when some biological waste is introduced as fertilizer for plants, it introduces nutrients into the soil and ergo, the plant).
So what are plorts? Well, plorts seem to carry genetic material enough to mutate unlike slimes into hybrids upon consumption. This is likely because plorts contain genetic material and due to the "liquiform" make-up of Slimes, the plort becomes inducted and mutates a Slime's cells to produce a hybrid aka Largo slime.
My main theory is upon consumption of a food item, the food instantly turns into energy and the Slime undergoes a mitosis-like process in order to produce a plort! This is likely because their bodies are possibly biologically formed to be a certain size (Gordo slimes being an exception, which will also be covered in this blog!). To maintain size, they split off a little part of themselves, producing a plort which is pure genetic material! Since plorts are possibly too small to maintain a conciousness or form a nervous/brain system, they never turn into Slimes themselves.
TL;DR: Plorts are not waste product but instead genetic material produced via a mitosis-like procedure.
Afterword: If you still want to call plorts poop? Fine. But then you have to acknowledge Tarrs are basically poop slimes.
