We figured out how to update the galleries to a better style

I may have found something better than slideshows: a show more function (like here: http://jojo.wikia.com/wiki/Steel_Ball_Run_(race)#Gallery).

The only problem is that it seems to be something that needs to be set for a whole wiki (other galleries on that wiki have the same function), since the code there is just <gallery> ... </gallery>, which normally would give a long list.

That or they have changed the <gallery> command. I don't really know if that's possible, but it might be.

    • That might be worth looking into, about adapting the gallery to suit a specific wiki's needs. I really like that setup they have and we would benefit from that.

I'd look into it now but I'm at work sadly. Phone has limitations :(

    • I've done a tiny bit of digging.

Supposedly the source code for specified layouts for the wiki (including galleries) is contained within the "Common.js" page of each wiki, which on our wiki according to the Search bar is actually located here. Though we can't edit it.

I don't quite know how it works because CSS gives me a headache but supposedly the relevant code we need is here. I'm assuming galleries are referred to as "tables".

    • The first page you linked would only affect Pharenir, since every user has a personal Common.js page. The page that would affect the whole wiki is here, however we can't edit that page either. As I know from my previous experiences with a different wiki, I would have to contact the FANDOM support and ask them to enable editing JavaScript and CSS pages for the wiki.

      That certainly makes more sense.

    • I have sent them a mail and I think they will enable it within 24 hours.

    • It's enabled now.

So how do we go about doing this? Is a Gallery that can collapse all we need or is there more that the wiki needs?

        Loading editor
    • For now we can just add the collapsable Gallery and later add more scripts when needed.

    • Alright.

Little problem, I don't think normal users can edit the Common.js page :V

    • Mike, if you have the code just post it here, so Emerald can implement it.

    • I've just tried but it gets messed up.

      It's here under Collapsible tables.

I hope it's what we need.

    • I added it in, but the galleries weren't affected. Maybe we should ask the admins over the JoJo wiki about it?

        Loading editor
    • That might be for the best. Also, it seems like the last submission still needs to be submitted since on the right side of the page it doesn't indicate that there is a live version.

The edits need to be reviewed before they are implemented, it seems.

    • I've left a message on one of their Beureacrats' Message Walls. Basically asked for their Gallery CSS code, at least the part that makes it collapsible.

I'm hoping this will be of some use to you Emerald.

    • Huh, I didn't know that.

      I enabled it now.

EDIT: It looks like the new gallery style appears only after you edit the page containing one, even if you don't add anything. We will have to do this with every article on the wiki that contains a gallery.

    • Do-able.

Time to mass minor edit most of the pages on the wiki.

      The gallery style is nice.

    • Sub-Zones should probably have their gallery below the trivia, similar to this one:¬†http://yandere-simulator.wikia.com/wiki/Osana_Najimi
