  • so i was wondering, what are the best ways to ranch slimes like quantiums. Note that ranching can also be done without corrals, and just with gardens\coops once either the overgrowth or the Grotto, as slimes don't tend to wonder outside the area, only going slightly up the path before losing intrest. I've seen that some slimes can be ranched easier outside corrals

    • and by "outside corrals" i mean in like the Overgrowth and Grotto without using corrals, like this quantium farm

    • Use the Grotto. I don't really ranch Quantums, I tried when the update came out and little was known about these little guys, and an.. incident happened that involved.. many slimes.. *Ahem* I think that the best strategy is to plant Pogo Trees (not Phase Lemon because of obvious reasons) in 4 of the plots, and in the other one, make a silo to store Plorts if you don't want too many sitting around, and for extra fruit in case the trees die. Come back every once in a while to check for plorts and trees.

Sorry if that doesn't work, I don't ranch Quantum Slimes.. for reasons.

KEEP THEM WELL FED! You don't want them to teleport out or on top of the Grotto... *cToAuRgRh*

    • Get a teleporter, install it in lab, install other end in The Docks, get Rubber Ducky from 7Zee rewards club, put the Rubber Ducky in the natural waterspring, get 5 puddle slimes, put them in the water, but a pond, get another Rubber Ducky, put it in the pond, get 5 more puddle slimes, put them in there, and check back every day for Puddle Plorts.

Get Boom Slimes in the Lab Area, put a safe amount (about 5 in eat) in two corrals with high walls, air nets, and plort collector, combine with pink slime to get Pink Boom Largo, feed it all leftover food, or make a Pogo Fruit garden and dump all of it into the pens.

Make as many Pumps as possible, put them into the Dry Reef, check back for Spiral Steams and Deep Brine.

Deposit all profits from this message into the Lab, then make Hydro Turrets :D

It's complicated but I'm pretty sure it'll work.

Exactly. That way, if somehow, they escape or other slimed get in, Tarrs won't be too much of a threat.

    • Agh stupid auto correct, slimes*

    • I think that all slimes should be free from corrals. However, a useful early-game practice is to have one corral for "catch-and-release" for when you have not unlocked an area or you momentarily need a slime. Note that you cannot have chicken coops if you free range, because apparently, largo slimes cannot jump over the wall. (I will report this as a bug.) But you can still use chickens without coops, it just takes longer for the to reproduce.

    • The best way to farm slimes, in my opinion, is free ranging largos. I say largos because the squishy lil' guys can't escape from as many spots. The best free range areas are the over-growth (constant chickens, plentiful spot for planters, and largos will generally stay in), and the grotto (no spots that a slime can escape through, plenty spots for a planter).

    • i keep mine corraled and i personally ranched quantums for quite some time they are worth it if you can deal with them i personally ran 2 phase lemon trees 4 mint mango trees 2 corrals of rad quantums and 2 corrals of rad crystal only issue was i couldnt really leave the ranch as if i did i would likely miss a feeding and you did not want to miss a feeding on here

    • I too keep mine coralled, and with plort collectors it makes it incredibly efficient. I keep each corral paired with a Garden and each corral has a largo with an easy-to-harvest favourite food.

      • Main Ranch area I have Mosaic Crystals and Mosaic Booms paired with Silver Parsnips.
      • Grotto I have Dervish Quantums paired with Prickle Pears, and Hunter Phosphors paired with Cuberries.
      • Overgrowth I have Honey Tabbies paired with Mint Mangoes, and Dervish Tangles with Prickle Pears.
      • The Docks I keep Puddle Slimes
      • The Lab I keep Pink Rocks and Pink Rads and pair them up with Heart Beets and Oca Ocas respectively. They're good for Slime Science because gadgets often require a tonne of Pink Plorts. I also have an incinerator with 3 Fire Slimes with two Warp Depots by it containing carrots, one linked to The Overgrowth, the other linked to a spare plot in the Grotto where I can grow Carrots if needed.

Also invested in some Refinery Links and Market Links in each of the Ranch areas so I can cash Plorts in quickly. Teleporters are handy for moving about as well.

When I harvest I remove the plot and replant it to make them grow more quickly, since they spawn with unripe crops on them already.

    • I hear there's gong to be a "Casual Mode" in the 1.0.0 update where Tarrs can not be made.

        Loading editor
    • That's boring, so I don't think I'll be playing that mode myself.

        Loading editor
    • Pfft, only beginners would play that.

    • I'll play it with some challenges to make it more interesting =3

Maybe a no plot challenge hmm

    • I personally have never had a quantum teleport out of their corrals. I had some hunter quantum largos in a corral and even though I would forget to feed them or be out looking for things when they wanted food, they would all bein there cages. I'd even seethe flickering ghost they were going to teleport to and it would just disappear!

It might have been a glitch, or related to the fact that I had the music box and the correct toy for both hunter and quantum slime in their corral, but they just stayed in there. not like there was any danger in it though. the only other slimes in the place I kept them (The grotto) were puddle slimes.

I did when they were first introduced until their teleporting was nerfed. Now even when I don't feed them, they don't teleport out. Before, they would teleport even when fed. It was so annoying.

    • i have all my quantum largos (i dont remember the other slime) in the cave, it helps alot! it makes it to where if they escape then they won't do much (but they sometimes get a little tooooo close to the exit)

        Loading editor
    • As of today, Quantum Largos still teleport out, to prevent this fill their corral with food, or at the very least keep a food source near them so they don't go too far if they get out.

I would like to call that a lie, as my saber honey slimes got out of the grotto and I found them wandering around in the dry corral reef, wild and loose, and then I also found some others at the beach...sooo...

    • But that's okay, because if they want to be wild and free, then so be it!
