Slime Key TP

"An ancient key for an ancient lock."

Slime keys are large, stone keys that are used to open the slime gates across the range. These gates often lead to expansive, new areas to explore or create shortcuts to familiar areas.

Slime Keys are large, greyish-brown and pink objects that can be found upon bursting certain wild Gordos. They are necessary for opening Slime Gates. (Which can unlock new areas). Unlike most items found in Slime Rancher, they are not obtainable by vacuuming it with the vacpack and do not obey gravity physics, but can be picked up on contact with it.

Obtaining Keys[]

Keys are obtained from the following Gordo Slimes:

In addition, one spare key is obtainable from the Vacpack Upgrades Shop three in-game hours after reading Casey's final Starmail.

Slime Gates[]

Slime Gates are obstacles that must be opened using Slime Keys to progress to new areas.

Tips[]

Three gates are simply used as shortcuts and have alternate paths, so can be left locked:

  • The Beach can be accessed via The Overgrowth.
  • Jetpack can be used to skip the gate to the The Moss Blanket.
  • Jetpack can be used to skip the gate to the Indigo Quarry if you're at the right angle.
  • One of the gates leading to The Ancient Ruins.
    • Alternatively, the gate to The Indigo Quarry or the The Moss Blanket can be left locked and the player will still have access to all three zones if unlocking The Ancient Ruins' entrances.
  • The second part of The Glass Desert only needs one of both gates to be accessed.

Although, for convenience, it is recommended to unlock all Slime Gates.
