The name "Primordy Oil" derives from the words "Primordial" and "Oil". This, and its Slimepedia tagline - "This stuff is pre-pre-prehistoric." - indicates that the oil is ancient, which is true to the length of time it takes for oil to form. Physically, Primordy Oil resembles real-world oil, and has a similar texture to The Tarr which also draws some inspiration from oil.
