I am an admin on polish Slime Rancher wiki (link here) and because you are an admin here, I want to ask you about sharing images.
I do not know if you are aware of that function, so let me explain. "A shared images repository allows a community to use images from another community without having to upload them locally". It means that if you agree on it, you will be "Alpha" wiki, and I will be "Gamma" wiki. Gamma wiki can share images that are already on the Alpha wiki and thanks to that, we don't have to upload them manually. I am asking, because it will definitely help our wiki and we wouldn't need to waste so much time on uploading images. If you want to know more about this, here's the link.
Thank you for reading and hope to hear from you soon.
I've passed this on to the others. A nice interesting tidbit you have there, wasn't aware this was a thing. From the sounds of it there's no downsides on our part so personally I don't see an issue with it. The only downside I can see would be that image filenames can be subject to change. It's quite rare that I change filenames nowadays, but if an image we're hosting on a Gamma wiki goes under a different filename it may break them on that end. So we'll both need to be wary of that.
You mean when a name of the file will be changed? You're right, if on Alpha wiki (in this case, yours) a certain filename get changed, then Gamma wiki (mine) will have problem. An image just won't be appearing (example). The same goes if your wiki deletes that file, obviously.
But it's not that bad, because there are more positives, haha.
Nobody was against it, so looks like a thumbs-up on our end.
Judging from the page you linked, it seems that to set this up an admin of your community has to request the feature through Special:Contact/features and provide URLs for the source (the English wiki) and the destination (the Polish wiki).
It was over a year ago now so my memory may be a tad hazy. But I guess the best way to explain how I became an Admin is to give you my full life story.
I came across this wiki in the early days of Slime Rancher when it was still in Early Access, April 2016. But I didn't properly contribute until exactly a year after my first edit, which was when Slime Science had just been introduced.
The reason I began contributing was because Slime Rancher is a good game, and by the same developers - and musician - of Spiral Knights no less; a game I'd previously invested over 3,000 hours in. I'd seen too many games that have wikis with incomplete information, and while this one was substantial there were a few glaring issue pages. I still remember what the Treasure Pods page looked like before I re-did it.
My first major project was a group effort between myself and fellow users Primal Groudon and Kalkrona; together we split the Food page; at the time they were all on the same page and kept in tabbers. The Slimes page was already split, so we used that page as a basis for the layout. After that I don't remember much in great detail, but I remained active and kept adding stuff to the site using the Runescape Wiki as inspiration (fun fact: that's where most of my layout ideas actually came from), learned a few things from other users along the way, and helped to try and keep order where I could.
For a long time Emerald was the sole Admin; the Founder and other Admin both went inactive, so neither of us had full access to the site. He adopted the site by becoming a Beureaucrat, and people asked for me to become an Admin. The rest is history. Thinking back on it, it was actually rather nice of them to do that for me.
I was wondering, when you go into The Dry Reef page there is a overlap or something titled Points ofInterest. And I can't see it on other biomes page. And I was wondering if you or other admins will ever add it or more importantly (for me heh) can I add it. It's minor little thing close to uselles, I love it. It will probably take some time but I really want to participate in this wiki but many things are already done so.
Sure. The only reason it hasn't been done is because low priority and motivation. I don't have any qualms against adding sections like it to the other pages.
As for the names, the area names were taken from the game files. If you wish to contribute, take the more notable cell names from the area's galleries (ex. The Indigo Quarry/Gallery#Cells). Some time back Emerald took the liberty of grabbing screenshots of each cell, along with their cell names.
It's a big task, are you sure you're up to it? If you're on the SR Discord we can probably get something planned before diving right into it.
There is actually something I need doing yes, but nobody seems willing to do it. If you don't want to do it either, I understand. Basically I need someone to double check all the chime amounts for Chime G on Wiggly Wonderland (2018), since I've been made aware at least one of them is wrong. The total amount should come to 117, but it comes to 116. If you're on the Discord, you can download the save I uploaded and double check for me. Of course, you don't have to.
Otherwise, I can't really think of anything that needs doing. You could check out the ANI category see what images you can contribute, or clear some pages marked with Incomplete tags. Otherwise, you could just grammar check. Anything helps, really.
